YWL - and Business Cooperation West
The story of YWL starts back in 1968. At the time, Hvide Sande had its first Christmas lights, under the auspices of the then Hvide Sande Handels- og Håndværkerforening. However, the Christmas lights had become a costly affair, and they were looking to supplement the income, most of which came from the annual raffle in the parking lot of the Holy Spirit Church.
Aksel Graven Nielsen (Bo Nyt) suggested that Hvide Sande Handels- og Håndværkerforeningen should publish a Christmas booklet with local stories and ads, with the proceeds from the latter helping to cover the cost of the Christmas lights. The idea for the name came from Maria Lodberg Jensen (Hasse).

About Erhvervssamvirke Vest
For many years, the Trade and Crafts Association ran a partnership with Holmsland Klit Tourist Association: HKT handled tourism development and tourist information, and in addition to YWL, the Trade and Crafts Association facilitated the beloved Christmas fairs in Hvide Sande Hallen.
As trade and tourism developed during the first half of the 1990s, it became increasingly clear that the interests of the two associations often coincided. At that time, most local businesses were also members of both associations.
Instead of closing down the Trade and Craftsmen’s Association, as proposed by the board at the general meeting in 1996, Johan Hovedschou, Jesper Clausen and Henning Davidsen decided to merge the two associations. A solution that, for statutory reasons, was not immediately possible.
The solution was ultimately to transform Hvide Sande Handels- og Håndværkerforening into Erhvervssamvirke Vest, which today has the same board and the same members as Holmsland Klit Turistforening.
As the name suggests, Erhvervssamvirke Vest is in practice a trade and craft association. However, the association’s geographical area has been expanded to include Søndervig and the Kloster area, corresponding to the former Holmsland Municipality.
Erhvervssamvirke Vest still sets up the Christmas lights in Hvide Sande, and still publishes the annual YWL.
