Did you know that Holmsland Klit Turistforening has an amazing house on Tyskerhavnen in Hvide Sande, which is visited by a number of artists every year?
The artist’s residence, ART 56, is an open workshop located in the most beautiful setting in front of the authentic fjord harbor. Every year, artists are selected from the many applicants – who move into the small house for 14 days at a time.
Visitors can experience many different artworks as well as art forms - and talk about the creative thoughts behind them
ART 56, owned by Holmsland Klit Turistforening, will be visited by a number of artists over 14-day periods each year.
All the artists have been carefully selected to work and exhibit in the open workshop, where you can follow the works in progress. Basically, they are there for periods of 14 days.
From April to October, the studio will be open from Sunday to Thursday from 12-16.

Everyone is welcome to apply to stay in our artist residency for 2026
People are welcome to apply throughout the year, but applications will not be processed until December 2025 – the deadline is November 30, 2025. There is no application form, just send an application with a few words about yourself and your art CV – you can choose to use the form or send an email to cmj@hkt.dk.
As this is a sponsored stay, it costs DKK 1000 for a 14-day period and in addition, a deposit of approximately DKK 1400 is charged, which covers electricity/water/heating consumption and final cleaning is included in the stay.
If you are awarded a residency, you are required to keep the gallery open Sundays-Thursdays from 12:00-16:00 during your period. Please let us know which periods you would be interested in, see the periods in 2026 below.
In terms of marketing, your name will be on the poster, your stay will be advertised on this site and on Facebook and elsewhere, and we will also make a video from the artist residence during your stay.
Kunstnerboligen is owned by Holmsland Klit Turistforening, which handles all the practicalities of booking, arrival, departure and other contact with artists.
During the periods when there are no artists staying, Kunstnerboligen is rented out at Feriepartner Hvide Sande
